The Magic Of Hypnosis

Hypnosis can help you to feel deeply relaxed

What is hypnosis?

Most people think that hypnosis is about mind control. If only, I’d be a millionaire if that were the case! When you hear the word “hypnosis” maybe you think of someone on a stage quacking like a duck or a magician swinging a pendulum back and forth and telling you that you are feeling sleepy, very sleepy. But those images aren’t a very accurate reflection of the work I do online or in my clinic in my role as a Clinical Hypnotherapist. Simply put, hypnosis is a method of accessing the subconscious mind to make a change.

Did you know that you are often in a trance state every day of the week, without being aware or realising it? Think about how engrossed you get when reading a good book, watching a captivating movie, or driving along a familiar route.

It’s so easy to become absorbed in a good book

Have you ever seen a magic show and felt in awe of how the magician was mesmerising people into believing what was happening was real?

Magic is happening all the time in the world.

Magic is everywhere!

Babies are born

Seasons come and go

Illnesses are cured

We underestimate the magic happening in our own life every day. We also forgot how powerful the mind is. Try NOT to imagine a yellow bird. You can’t do it, can you? Being given a suggestion can be enough to create a picture in your mind.

We have the capacity to create scenarios, outcomes, pictures, how our life path unfolds. Nothing is beyond what we can imagine once we open up to use that power.

As a hypnotherapist I’ve worked with clients over the years to help them change all kinds to transform their habits and beliefs. Many clients come to me who have struggled with their weight for years. I love helping them to change their limiting beliefs about themselves. So many people have used the word “magic” to describe that transformational change.

Hypnosis is a very powerful tool that enables me to tap into that deep part of the mind that has been conditioned to be a certain way. It’s like re-programming the hard drive of a computer. When we reset the programming it allows the client to finally achieve the weightloss goal they have been craving.

So how does it work?

Now that we’ve dispelled some myths about hypnosis I’d like to explain a bit more about what to expect when you have a session. Hypnosis is very often described as a sleepy trance-like state. A client can seem sleepy but they are in fact in heightened state of awareness and focused attention. The hypnotist is a guide, or coach, and the client is given suggestions that guide them to make the desired change.

Hypnosis uses imagination not willpower. The client enters the world of make-believe, visualising an outcome of desire, and then experiences the change.

It’s pretty close to magic.

Maybe you’ve been struggling with your weight for years, or it might be that lockdown stress has lead to you piling on the pounds. Maybe you’ve been finding it hard to juggle working from home with other responsibilities and you’ve been comfort eating. If you’d like to work with a non-judgemental, approachable therapist who can help you to reprogramme your associations, emotions, and habits around food and alcohol, get in touch.
